Introductions
Welcome to our new Community, we are so happy that you have joined us and we'd love to get to know you all. Please introduce yourself in this thread by telling us a little bit about yourself and your experience with Immersive Labs and Cyber Security.
I'm Kieran, the Director of Community here at Immersive Labs and I'm responsible for fostering this community, and leading our Cyber Million program which aims to help 1 Million people into cybersecurity jobs over the next decade.
Prior to this I worked with the UK NCSC to design and deliver the inaugural program of CyberFirst events, a pioneering initiative aimed at inspiring and encouraging 14 - 18 year olds to consider careers in cybersecurity. I'm a member of the UK Cyber Security Council's Qualifications Careers Working Group and carried out extensive research into the UK's Cyber Security Skills Gap as part of my MSc in Cyber Security.
I live in South West England, where you can often find me running on the trails, or running after my 7 year old son.
I look forward to meeting you all
Kieran

I'm very excited as we launch our new Community here at IL!
I'm Robbie, and I'm responsible for responding to all inbound questionnaires from our customers - RFPs, RFIs, and Risk Assessment Questionnaires, as well as managing the Customer Help Center (knowledge base and product documentation) in our platform.
This year marks my 8th year working in Cyber Security with the last wonderful year spent here at IL. I reside in Middle Tennessee (in Lynchburg, home of Jack Daniels whiskey), where we also own and operate an alpaca and llama farm (and dogs, chickens, and children, oh my...).

Hi Everyone, nice to meet you all. My name is Ben, and I'm a lead cyber resilience advisor here at Immersive Labs. I work from our Bristol HQ and tend to collaborate with customers primarily around bespoke Crisis Sim scenarios. I've been with Immersive for a little over a year and come from an academic background studying cyber incident response decision-making. I'm passionate about helping people think about how their cyber security decision-making, both before and during an incident (or crisis), will impact their overall performance. Here to chat about incident response, decision-making, sensemaking, and linguistic theory (and cake, bread, coffee, and food)!
Bramble is essential to all of this, usually to be found asleep on the sofa or under the desk.
I look forward to chatting with you all as the community grows!
Ben

Hi everyone! I'm a veteran now looking to turn my 'passion into a profession' and work towards some Cybersecurity qualifications. This looks like a great place to get a solid foundation! Ultimately wanting to end up in a risk consultancy role.
Long life tinkerer, programming from computer magazines at about 7 or 8 with my family Amstrad 464. Back then I think actually got some cheats to work in games by writing code from a magazine (hours) and having to pause the cassette player at the right point (i think). Then the Amiga 500, heady days of workbench 1.3 and deluxe paint iii. From there towards Linux and the mysterious world of man and Bash. What a somehow archaic but at the same time still futuristic invention (imo). Spent time learning whilst studying molecular biology in my Uni days.
Anyway.. joined Army, did a lot of green and bio-metric stuff abroad for 6 months, and continued to be into computers as a hobbie. Written a few personal projects in C (including Tetris and a Sudoku solver using backtracking algortihm) and like the close to metal stuff.
I'm living in France right now and for the NATO buffs amongst us on a former SHAPE barracks. History of Cyber in general fascinates me also. Hello everyone!

I spent many MANY hours in Deluxe Paint III. The Amiga 500 seems to be a common origin story for many of us here, Monkey Island in particular!

Monkey Island! Can concur!

Hey, all! I'm Barny, lead application security engineer here at Immersive Labs. I've been with Immersive for about a year, previous to which I was a penetration tester for 7 years.
Prior to that, I've been lucky enough to work as a software developer for a variety of companies of all sizes and to see a few interesting places around the world while I was at it. I've also spent some time working in production (staging, lighting, and sound for events) and driven lorries of various sizes professionally.
I love a good film and the odd computer game (especially with friends and family), and my first 3D printer just arrived today, so I'm excited to start tinkering with it!

Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I'm a Customer Success Manager here at Immersive Labs based in the Annapolis, Maryland, area (Go Blues! 💙 ⚽ 🦀). I've been in Customer Success for about a decade, and simply put my favorite thing about my role is helping people solve problems! I'm always down for a good brainstorm or strategy session.
When I'm not at my desk, you can find me hanging out with my colleagues in the office! Meet my team:
- 🐕 Maple, Office Manager - Miniature Australian Shepherd (7 years experience)
- 🐈⬛ Frank, Office Layabout - Nebelung (2 years experience)
- 🐈⬛ Charlie, Office Clown - Nebelung (2 years experience)
I'll edit to include a team photo later!
Did I mention I work remotely? 🤣 If any of my colleagues pop in to a meeting, there's about a 99% chance it's Charlie, and he will be distracting anyone and everyone!
Looking forward to experiencing the Human Connection with you all!

Hi All! I am Lisa Barber and I am on the Customer Success team here at Immersive Labs based in Minnesota. I am so excited for the launch of this community. I am passionate about partnering with my customers on their journey.
I am a mom to two amazing grown daughters and a first time grandma to Stevie💕. In my spare time I try to enjoy our lakes to the fullest with friends and family.
Also, I can't forget to mention the two clowns I live with that occasionally make an appearance on video calls (Theodore the Labrador and Zoie the crazy kitty).

Hello all! I am Kit, a solution consultant based out of St. Albans which is just north of London.
I have a 2 year son that I have been taking to as many countries as possible (until we have to pay for a full plane ticket for him 😣).
I also have a dog called Norman who can run at 45mph but only for about 1 min and then sleeps behind me in my office for the other 23h and 59mins of the day.Looking forward to getting involved with our new community!

Hi @KitHudson and welcome! Love hearing about Norman. Am I right we can expect 1 min of community engagement from him each day? Then he can spend 23h and 58 mins sleeping, still!

Hi everyone, I'm Robert Klentzeris.
I've worked here at Immersive as part of the AppSec for 4 years now. I enjoy writing labs, content and anything AppSec. Everyday brings new challenges which makes it a rewarding place to be.
If I'm not being a nerd you can find me playing basketball games pretending to be a centre that's actually shorter than most point guards 🙃 I'm also a incredibly proud chocolate Labrador Dad.
If you've got any opinions on AppSec I'm all ears. The spicier takes the better. Pen-testing is overrated? "Shift everywhere" isn't a real solution? C-Levels should know how to Threat model? Rust is overrated and you should probably just use Go? See you in the replies for some fun spirited hot takes 😏🌶️

Good evening everyone,
I'm Jay! Not currently in a cyber position but opening up to the thought of it. Just diving into Immersive Labs and exploring any topics that catch my eye. Looking to build up my skills, learn from all of you, and hopefully pitch in where I can.
No formal training here, but I'm really enjoying the ride so far. This stuff is pretty more-ish.
Excited to be part of the team and i look forward to connect with you all.
Cheers!
